Dominic Solanke has been out of action since Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Wolves in April, having picked up a hamstring problem that left Spurs short of attacking options, with only Randal Kolo Muani, Richarlison and Mathys Tel available in that department.
James Maddison, meanwhile, made his first appearance of the campaign during the draw with Wolves, though the midfielder is yet to start a match after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Arsenal in pre-season.
Tottenham go into their pivotal fixture against Everton knowing that a point will be enough to secure their Premier League status, making the potential availability of both players a significant lift for Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, De Zerbi confirmed that both Solanke and Maddison are in the frame to feature.
He indicated that Solanke is available for selection, with a decision on whether he starts still to be made, and that Maddison is also in contention. De Zerbi described Maddison as a player who takes an active role in managing his own involvement, typically deciding before kick-off how much he can contribute physically. He acknowledged Maddison’s quality as a different type of player who adds something distinct to the side, while noting that his fitness and related factors still need to be carefully weighed up before a final call is made.
