Liverpool latest: Bradley Barcola ‘discount’ emerges as failed bid details revealed

Liverpool transfer latest: PSG soften Bradley Barcola stance as Alisson’s failed Juventus move explained

Liverpool supporters got another glimpse of what Andoni Iraola’s side could look like this season during Sunday’s 2-0 pre-season victory over Como. New defensive additions Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo both made their first appearances for the Reds in a strong starting XI.

There is still hope at Anfield that PSG winger Bradley Barcola could eventually become part of Iraola’s preferred team. Liverpool have been pursuing the 23-year-old French international for much of the summer and are determined to make progress before the transfer window closes on September 1.

The latest developments could now provide a major boost to the Reds’ ambitions, with PSG reportedly prepared to lower their demands for Barcola. At the same time, fresh information has emerged regarding Juventus’ unsuccessful attempt to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.

PSG reportedly reduce Barcola asking price

PSG are reportedly ready to consider a lower offer for Barcola after previously placing a valuation of around £145million on the winger.

According to French outlet Jeunes Footeux, the European champions could now be willing to negotiate a deal in the region of £110m to £120m. The report claims PSG view the reduction as a gesture that could encourage Liverpool to step up their efforts to sign the attacker.

However, PSG are not believed to be under pressure to sell Barcola and could remain firm over their revised valuation. The French giants are reportedly unwilling to make any further significant concessions.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also offered encouragement to Liverpool supporters, suggesting that the situation could now “accelerate” as the Reds continue “pushing” to get the deal completed.

Alisson’s Juventus move revealed

Meanwhile, more details have emerged about Juventus’ failed attempt to bring Alisson to Turin earlier this summer.

The Italian giants initially approached Liverpool over a possible deal for the Brazilian goalkeeper, but their opening proposal fell well short of what the Reds considered acceptable.

Alisson, 33, had reportedly agreed personal terms with Juventus and was even said to have selected his potential squad number. However, Liverpool ultimately decided that they wanted to keep their first-choice goalkeeper for at least another season, particularly after extending his contract.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Alisson had been Juventus’ main goalkeeping target and claimed the player and club had already reached an agreement.

With Liverpool refusing to let their goalkeeper leave, Juventus were forced to explore alternative options and subsequently turned their attention towards Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.

Martinez’s future remains uncertain, with Villa reportedly closing in on Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, while Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is expected to move to Turin on loan.

Alisson started Liverpool’s win over Como and once again underlined his commitment to the club ahead of the new campaign.

The Brazilian praised his teammates after the victory and stressed the importance of maintaining their work ethic as Iraola prepares for the competitive season.

He admitted there are still areas Liverpool need to improve, particularly their consistency throughout matches, but insisted the squad is determined to keep progressing.

With the Premier League season approaching, Liverpool now face a crucial period in the transfer market, with Barcola potentially becoming one of the biggest remaining additions to Iraola’s squad.
