Tottenham Hotspur remain under real pressure in the Premier League relegation fight, even after an eye-opening claim from former manager Tim Sherwood.
A recent victory over Aston Villa gave the squad a welcome boost, with signs of improvement under Roberto De Zerbi, who has steadied the team during a difficult, injury-hit campaign. Spurs have also managed back-to-back league wins for the first time since the opening two fixtures of the season, lifting them out of the bottom three following West Ham’s 3-0 loss to Brentford.
However, Sherwood’s surprising revelation has cast fresh doubt over their survival hopes. Speaking on Sky Sports News, he pointed out that Tottenham are actually third-best in the Premier League for away form this season — a statistic that stunned the studio. At the same time, their home record is among the worst in the division.
Sherwood highlighted the stark contrast: Spurs sit 19th in home form but thrive far more on the road, suggesting a lack of personality and resilience at their own stadium. He also hinted that De Zerbi’s intense managerial style may eventually help correct that imbalance.
Statistically, Tottenham have picked up seven wins, five draws and six defeats away from home (1.44 points per game), compared to just two wins, five draws and ten losses at home (0.64 points per game).
With only one away match left — a tough trip to Chelsea — and their overall position still sitting around 17th, Spurs remain far from safe. While the win at Villa Park offers encouragement, their disastrous home form means the relegation threat is still very real, and the home-away imbalance could ultimately decide their fate.
