Liverpool handed green light for Barcola move after major PSG development

Liverpool could finally have a clearer path to Bradley Barcola after a major development at PSG. The Reds have spent much of the summer pursuing the 23-year-old, but negotiations have repeatedly stalled because of PSG’s £145 million valuation.

That situation could now change after the French champions strengthened their attack with Mika Godts, Maghnes Akliouche and Ferran Torres. With competition for places increasing, Barcola could face a tougher battle for regular minutes.

Liverpool ready to make another Barcola move

According to The Standard, Liverpool are expected to return with another offer after PSG completed the signing of Godts from Ajax.

The Belgian winger has reportedly signed a five-year contract, with the transfer potentially reaching around £47 million.

Barcola is understood to be attracted to the possibility of joining Liverpool, while PSG’s latest additions could make an exit more realistic. He was an unused substitute during PSG’s 2-1 UEFA Super Cup victory over Aston Villa, with new signing Akliouche starting instead.

PSG have also reportedly completed the €50 million signing of Ferran Torres from Barcelona, further increasing Luis Enrique’s attacking options.

Enrique has previously suggested that unhappy players could be allowed to leave, saying: “when a player doesn’t have a smile when coming here, it’s better to look for another solution.”

The PSG boss has also praised Barcola in the past, describing him as “unstoppable.”

Liverpool should push, but avoid overpaying

The latest developments could strengthen Liverpool’s position in negotiations.

PSG now have Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, Akliouche, Torres and Godts competing for attacking places, making their £145 million valuation for Barcola increasingly difficult to justify if his playing time drops.

Liverpool, meanwhile, need another top-level winger, and Barcola would fit perfectly. His pace, directness and one-on-one ability would add another dimension to Andoni Iraola’s attack, while his age means he could become an important player for years to come.

The biggest obstacle remains the price. Even with PSG’s growing attacking depth, £145 million is a huge figure.

Liverpool should therefore make another serious offer while maintaining financial discipline. The circumstances appear to be shifting in their favour, and PSG may eventually have to compromise.
