Liverpool forward on the verge of leaving Anfield could make his debut for his new club within 48 hours.
Liverpool Youngster Set for Loan Move to Sheffield Wednesday
One Liverpool forward is reportedly close to completing a loan switch away from Anfield and could make his debut for his new club as early as Thursday evening.
With Andoni Iraola missing several senior players during the early stages of pre-season because of their post-World Cup breaks, a number of Liverpool youngsters were given opportunities to impress. Kieran Morrison was one of those to benefit, finding the net during the Reds’ 4-2 victory over Sunderland in Nashville last month.
The 19-year-old recently signed a new Liverpool contract and had previously been linked with a temporary move to Dutch side Groningen. However, his next destination now appears likely to be closer to home, with a loan spell in England on the cards for the 2026/27 season.
Morrison closing in on Liverpool exit
According to James Pearce, Morrison is ‘set to go ahead’ with a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday. If the transfer is completed within the next 24 hours, the Northern Ireland international could potentially feature for the Owls when they face Bradford in League One on Thursday night.
Morrison featured for only 24 minutes in Liverpool’s goalless draw with Como at the AXA Training Centre on Sunday, while he was left out of the two friendlies played at Anfield over the previous two weeks.
Sheffield Wednesday could be ideal for Morrison
While a move to League One rather than the Championship may come as a surprise, regular first-team football could make Sheffield Wednesday an excellent destination for Morrison.
The Owls have made a positive start to the new campaign, defeating Leyton Orient in their opening league game and eliminating Bolton from the Carabao Cup. The club has also entered a new era following the takeover by Arise Capital Partners.
For Henrik Pedersen’s side, bringing in a young Liverpool player who impressed during pre-season would represent a significant addition as they look to secure an immediate return to the Championship.
Morrison can also look to Conor Bradley for inspiration. Four years ago, Bradley joined Bolton on loan when they were in League One and used the experience as a platform to establish himself in Liverpool’s first team.
If the proposed move to Sheffield Wednesday is completed without any late complications, Morrison will hope to follow a similar path and return to Anfield ready to compete for a regular place in the senior squad.
