Liverpool could land a bigger talent than Mbaye in move for Arsenal wonderkid
Liverpool could turn their attention to Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri as they continue searching for attacking reinforcements ahead of the 2026/27 season.
New boss Andoni Iraola has so far overseen the arrivals of Víctor Muñoz and Ronald Araújo, but the Reds are reportedly still looking to strengthen their forward line.
Liverpool have recently increased their interest in PSG teenager Ibrahim Mbaye, with a fee of around £45m reportedly being discussed. The 18-year-old winger is attracting attention from several clubs after making 24 appearances for PSG last season.
However, Mbaye is not the only young attacker on Liverpool’s radar. Arsenal’s Nwaneri has reportedly emerged as another option, with Liverpool believed to be monitoring the 19-year-old closely.
Nwaneri made just six Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season but gained valuable experience during a loan spell at Marseille. His performances in France have reportedly impressed Liverpool’s recruitment team.
The England youth international is considered a highly promising talent and has already made 51 appearances for Arsenal since making his senior debut in 2022.
Reports suggest Arsenal could consider a permanent sale if Liverpool were to offer around £55m, although the Gunners would reportedly prefer a loan arrangement.
Statistically, Nwaneri has outperformed Mbaye in several attacking areas, including passing, chance creation and crossing. His impressive minutes-per-goal-contribution record during his spell in Ligue 1 has further highlighted his potential.
While a £55m investment would represent a significant gamble, Liverpool could believe Nwaneri has the potential to become a major star at Anfield.
With the Reds seeking more attacking quality under Iraola, the Arsenal youngster could ultimately prove to be an even more exciting signing than Mbaye.
