Liverpool Closing In on Nine-Figure Winger Deal
Liverpool are entering the final stages of the summer transfer window still searching for a new wide attacker. The Reds have been looking for reinforcements on the flanks since the World Cup, but so far, no major deal has been completed.
Several names, including PSG youngster Ibrahim Mbaye, have been linked with a move to Anfield, but attention has now shifted towards Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh. Liverpool are reportedly interested despite the 22-year-old being sidelined with an injury until October.
The Reds are said to have had an opening ÂŁ50m bid rejected by Brighton, although negotiations could continue. Minteh’s pace, directness and Premier League experience make him an appealing option, but his limited attacking output could make Liverpool reluctant to pay a significant fee.
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has already admitted that the club could complete business late in the window, saying: “We will definitely sign some players. Some deals you have to wait until the end.”
However, Bradley Barcola remains the more exciting option. The PSG winger’s potential move to Liverpool is reportedly still alive, with French journalist Fabrice Hawkins claiming that both clubs believe an agreement can eventually be reached.
Liverpool have previously made verbal approaches for Barcola, while PSG are believed to be looking for a fee in the region of €130m-€150m. A deal below €120m is reportedly unlikely.
If Liverpool complete the move, Barcola could become another record signing for the club. His pace, dribbling ability and end product would provide Iraola with the attacking threat Liverpool have been missing on the wing.
The statistics also appear to favour Barcola. During the 2025/26 campaign, he scored 11 goals in 1,750 league minutes compared with Minteh’s three goals in 2,398 minutes.
With the transfer window rapidly approaching its deadline, Liverpool may now have to make a huge financial commitment if they want to land their preferred winger. Barcola appears to be the player capable of making the biggest difference.
