Liverpool are continuing to explore attacking options as they look to strengthen their forward line before the transfer window closes, with PSG youngster Ibrahim Mbaye reportedly open to joining the Reds.
Bradley Barcola remains Liverpool’s top target, but PSG’s £140m asking price has become a major obstacle despite reports that the France international has agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions.
The Reds have also had two bids rejected for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, with their latest offer reportedly worth £60m. The Gambia international is said to be keen on a move to Anfield.
However, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs has revealed that Liverpool are considering several alternatives, with Mbaye among the names on their radar.
Jacobs said: “If they don’t get Barcola, then we need to keep an eye on a combination of various names, some of which I’ve mentioned, and Ibrahim Mbaye has been on Liverpool’s radar as well.
“The price is a bit prohibitive there, as things stand, but the player would be open to a move if a club-to-club agreement was put in place.”
PSG are reportedly demanding around €70m (£60m) for Mbaye, who is keen to leave in search of more regular first-team football. Liverpool, however, value the Senegal international at around €50m (£42.8m), leaving a significant gap in valuation.
With PSG reportedly unwilling to use Barcola or Mbaye until the transfer window closes, Liverpool must now decide whether to meet their demands or move for alternative targets as the deadline approaches.
