Bradley Barcola’s Liverpool Transfer Could Pave the Way for Tottenham to Land Cody Gakpo!

Tottenham Handed Fresh Cody Gakpo Transfer Hope After Liverpool’s Barcola Agreement

Tottenham have reportedly been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Cody Gakpo after Liverpool reached a verbal agreement to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the next stage will see the clubs exchange documents within the next 24 hours. Barcola’s expected arrival could reshape Liverpool’s attack and potentially increase the possibility of Gakpo leaving before the September 1 deadline.

Spurs have been linked with the Netherlands international, but their chances of signing him could depend on Liverpool adding one or even two more attacking options.

Barcola Deal Could Change Gakpo’s Future

TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey claims Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola is currently unwilling to sanction Gakpo’s departure this summer.

That position is understandable if Liverpool only intend to strengthen one attacking position. However, Sky Sports reports that the Reds would ideally like to bring in another forward this summer.

If Liverpool complete the Barcola deal and add another attacker, Gakpo could find it easier to secure an exit.

Liverpool Could Demand a Huge Fee

Tottenham or any other interested club could face a significant financial demand for Gakpo.

The Dutch forward has already established himself in the Premier League and demonstrated his quality at the highest level. His versatility, particularly his ability to play from the left or operate centrally, makes him a valuable asset.

Why Liverpool Could Still Keep Gakpo

Despite the transfer speculation, Liverpool have good reasons to retain Gakpo.

With Alexander Isak unlikely to feature in every game during a demanding campaign, Liverpool will need sufficient attacking depth and rotation options as they compete across multiple competitions.

Although Gakpo may not be the ideal long-term answer at centre-forward, he remains one of Liverpool’s most reliable alternatives. Losing him without bringing in suitable replacement would leave Iraola with fewer options.

For Tottenham, however, Barcola’s expected move to Anfield could be the breakthrough they need, potentially reviving their hopes of signing Gakpo before the transfer window closes.
