Harvey Elliott Closing in on Valencia Move as Liverpool Exit Looms
Harvey Elliott could be heading for the Liverpool exit, with the midfielder reportedly reaching an agreement on personal terms with Spanish side Valencia.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Elliott and Valencia have held positive discussions, resulting in the 23-year-old agreeing to the proposed personal terms. Attention has now turned to negotiations between Valencia and Liverpool as both clubs work towards finalising a potential loan agreement before the transfer deadline.
Elliott has also attracted interest from Italian clubs Napoli and Lazio, but Valencia currently appear to be making significant progress in their pursuit of the Liverpool midfielder.
The possibility of Elliott leaving Anfield has increased after he was left out of Liverpool’s opening matchday squad against Newcastle United by manager Andoni Iraola. Reports suggest that Liverpool are open to allowing the player to leave as talks over the details of the loan continue.
A move to Valencia could offer Elliott the opportunity to get his career back on track following a difficult 2025/26 campaign.
The midfielder spent last season on loan at Aston Villa under Unai Emery, with the agreement reportedly including a £35 million obligation to buy. However, the permanent transfer clause was said to depend on Elliott reaching certain appearance targets.
His time at Villa Park did not go as planned, as his opportunities were extremely limited. Reports claimed that Aston Villa managed his playing time carefully to avoid activating the mandatory purchase clause, leaving Elliott struggling to secure a regular role in the team.
As a result, the Liverpool academy graduate made only four senior appearances during his loan spell before eventually returning to Anfield.
Elliott now faces intense competition for a place in Liverpool’s midfield, with players such as Florian Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai ahead of him in the pecking order.
A season-long loan move to Valencia could therefore provide the talented playmaker with the regular football he needs to rediscover his best form and revive his career away from Liverpool.
