Liverpool Fans Question Victor Muñoz After Forest Draw
Liverpool supporters have raised serious concerns about Victor Muñoz following his performance in the Reds’ dramatic 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest at Anfield.
Andoni Iraola’s first Premier League home game in charge got off to a difficult start, as Dan Ndoye put Forest ahead in the 24th minute after being set up by Morgan Gibbs-White.
Liverpool appeared to have equalised through Florian Wirtz shortly afterwards, but the goal was ruled out after Jeremie Frimpong was deemed offside in the build-up.
The Reds eventually got back into the game when Cody Gakpo provided the assist for new signing Alexander Isak, who calmly finished into an empty net to make it 1-1.
Forest regained their advantage in the 70th minute after Alisson gave away a penalty following a challenge on Neco Williams. Gibbs-White converted from the spot to put the visitors back in front.
However, Liverpool eventually rescued a point thanks to Muñoz, who fired home his first goal for the club late in the match.
Despite his goal, some Liverpool fans had already expressed their frustration with the winger’s performance, with several supporters questioning whether he is currently ready for the intensity of Premier League football.
One fan criticised his decision-making and final delivery, while another claimed Muñoz was struggling to cope with the pace and physical demands of the league.
Others were more sympathetic, suggesting that the youngster could be a long-term project who simply needs time to adapt to English football.
His late equaliser will certainly give Muñoz confidence, but Liverpool supporters will be hoping to see a much stronger overall performance from him in the coming matches.
