Liverpool Agree €35m Deal for Belgian Goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans
Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement to sign highly rated Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from KRC Genk for a fee of €35 million.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the transfer has now been completed, with Brughmans set to remain at Genk on loan for the 2026/27 season. The 19-year-old goalkeeper is expected to officially join Liverpool in the summer of 2027.
Brughmans is regarded as one of Belgium’s most promising young goalkeepers and has impressed with his potential at Genk. Liverpool appear to view him as a long-term investment who could eventually become a key figure at Anfield.
The move could also be part of Liverpool’s plans for life after Alisson Becker, with the Brazilian goalkeeper entering the latter stages of his career. The Reds are believed to be looking ahead for a potential successor.
Liverpool currently have Giorgi Mamardashvili as another option between the posts, although the Georgian has struggled to secure regular playing time since arriving at the club.
Allowing Brughmans to spend another season at Genk could be beneficial for his development, giving him the opportunity to gain valuable first-team experience before making the switch to the Premier League.
If he continues to develop at his current rate, Liverpool could have secured a highly promising goalkeeper capable of becoming an important part of the squad for years to come.
