Spurs Agree Sensational Double Deal With Premier League Rivals After Gakpo Snub
Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a major double transfer deal after Cody Gakpo reportedly decided to join Manchester City.
Spurs had been pursuing the Liverpool forward throughout the summer as Roberto De Zerbi looked to strengthen his attacking options. However, with Gakpo now choosing City, Tottenham have quickly turned their attention elsewhere.
According to David Ornstein, Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, with Richarlison heading in the opposite direction.
Despite the two transfers involving the same clubs, the deals are reportedly being treated as separate transactions rather than a formal swap.
Richarlison is set to return to Everton four years after leaving Goodison Park for Tottenham. The Brazilian enjoyed a successful final season with the Toffees, scoring 10 Premier League goals in 2021/22 to help secure their top-flight survival.
Ndiaye, meanwhile, is now set to become another attacking addition for Spurs following the arrivals of Omar Marmoush and Savinho.
The move also means Richarlison appears to have fallen down De Zerbi’s pecking order and could leave Tottenham before the transfer deadline.
Meanwhile, Everton have reportedly made a dramatic U-turn over Harrison Armstrong’s proposed £35 million move to Nottingham Forest.
The 19-year-old midfielder had attracted strong interest from Forest, but Everton supporters protested heavily against the potential transfer during their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.
Reports now claim Everton have decided to keep Armstrong, with the fan backlash understood to have played a major role in the decision.
It could prove to be one of the most dramatic twists of the transfer window.
