Liverpool have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Genk to sign highly rated 18-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans, with Fabrizio Romano giving the deal his famous “Here we go!”
The deal is reportedly worth around €35 million (£30m), making it a significant investment in a player who is still only 18. Liverpool have already received authorisation for Brughmans to undergo his medical, although the formal paperwork still needs to be completed.
🔴 When will he join Liverpool?
Brughmans is expected to remain at Genk for the 2026/27 season and join Liverpool in summer 2027. The Reds appear to view the move as a long-term investment rather than an immediate first-team signing.
The goalkeeper has made around 15 senior appearances for Genk and stands at roughly 6ft 7in, with Liverpool’s Global Talent department reportedly identifying him as a potential star of the future.
🧤 What does this mean for Mamardashvili?
The move could also have implications for Giorgi Mamardashvili. Nottingham Forest have reportedly made an enquiry about the Georgian goalkeeper, who is currently at Liverpool. If Mamardashvili were to leave before the transfer deadline, there has been speculation that Brughmans’ arrival could potentially be brought forward.
For now, though, the plan is reportedly for Brughmans to continue developing at Genk before moving to Anfield next summer.
