🚨 HEADLINE: £80m Winger Still Hopes for Liverpool Move as Gakpo Decision Is Made

Yankuba Minteh’s representatives are reportedly still pushing for a deadline-day move to Liverpool, despite the Reds appearing increasingly unlikely to make another major attacking signing.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with the Brighton winger throughout August. The 22-year-old is valued at around £80 million, with Brighton having already rejected two Liverpool offers, including a reported second bid worth £60m.

🔴 Minteh’s camp still hoping

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Minteh’s representatives remain hopeful that Liverpool could make a late move before the transfer window closes.

Jacobs reported that Minteh’s camp is still seeking a move to Anfield, although he acknowledged that a deal is currently considered unlikely.

The player’s situation is complicated by his current injury, which is expected to keep him out until November. Liverpool would therefore be taking a significant risk by spending around £80m on a player who is currently unavailable.

🔴 Gakpo’s future changes everything

The biggest reason Liverpool may not pursue Minteh is Cody Gakpo.

Manchester City reportedly made an £80m offer for Gakpo, but Liverpool have decided to keep the Netherlands international at Anfield. That removes much of the need for Liverpool to immediately find another winger.

Liverpool have also already completed the signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, giving new manager Andoni Iraola another major attacking option.

👀 What happened with Ismaïla Sarr?

Liverpool had also explored a move for Crystal Palace’s Ismaïla Sarr as another potential right-sided target.

However, Palace reportedly want around £75m for Sarr and have rejected Liverpool’s approaches. Sarr himself is understood to have been interested in joining Liverpool, but Palace’s stance has made the transfer extremely difficult.

⏳ Could Liverpool still make a late move?

There is still a small possibility of a dramatic deadline-day twist.

Minteh’s representatives reportedly continue to push for the transfer, but Liverpool are believed to be preparing to close their business if Gakpo stays and there are no significant departures.

For now, the most likely outcome is that Minteh remains at Brighton, while Gakpo stays at Liverpool. But with the deadline approaching, Liverpool fans will be watching closely for any last-minute development.

Bottom line: 🔴 Liverpool have explored Minteh and Sarr, but with Gakpo staying and Barcola already signed, another £75m–£80m winger looks increasingly unlikely.
