BREAKING:Defender makes surprise return to Liverpool after terminating contract

Conor Coady Returns to Liverpool Training After Wrexham Exit

Former Liverpool defender Conor Coady has returned to his boyhood club after leaving Wrexham and becoming a free agent.

The 33-year-old agreed to terminate his contract with Wrexham earlier this week, just 24 hours before the English transfer window closed. Coady joined the Welsh club from Leicester City last year in a transfer reportedly worth around £2 million ($2.7m), but made just six appearances during his time there.

Despite the transfer window closing, Coady remains free to join another club and can continue searching for his next opportunity before the window reopens in January.

For now, the experienced defender has returned to Liverpool, where he came through the academy and made two senior appearances before departing Anfield for Huddersfield Town in 2014. He later played for Wolves and Everton and also spent time on loan at Charlton last season.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Coady confirmed that he has been training with Liverpool’s academy and assisting U21 head coach Rob Page.

“I’m trying to keep myself busy. I’m lucky enough to get the opportunity to go into Liverpool’s under-21s,” Coady explained.

The defender admitted he is still considering his next move but is enjoying the chance to remain involved with Liverpool while maintaining his fitness.

“The lads at Liverpool are amazing with me,” he said. “The players, but also Jay Spearing and Rob Page, who gave me the opportunity to come in, mirror them a little bit, be in the office before training and look at how they plan a session.

“If they need numbers, I’ll jump in and keep myself fit as well. That’s what it’s looking like at the minute. I’m obviously speaking to my agent about different bits that are going on.

“I’m not massively in a rush because I want to make sure it’s right.”
