Liverpool plot January move for Yankuba Minteh

However, the proposed deal ultimately failed to materialise. According to Football Insider, Liverpool remain interested in the 22-year-old attacker and could make another approach in January, with the Reds expected to monitor his situation closely over the coming months.

Yankuba Minteh Could Emerge as a Liverpool Target Again

Liverpool could reportedly return for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh when the January transfer window opens.

Pete O’Rourke believes Liverpool may explore several options if they decide to strengthen the right side of their attack and find a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

He said Liverpool will be monitoring Minteh’s situation at Brighton after already making multiple attempts to sign the Gambian international, only for their offers to be rejected.

Much could depend on how Liverpool’s current attacking options perform between now and January. If Bradley Barcola settles quickly and impresses on the right, or if Cody Gakpo and Victor Muñoz provide a reliable solution in that position, Liverpool may decide that another signing is unnecessary.

Liverpool strengthened their attack during the summer by bringing in Barcola and Muñoz, but the club could still consider adding another right-sided forward to increase competition and depth.

Minteh would offer something different. His explosive pace, direct running and ability to create problems for defenders could give Liverpool another dangerous weapon in the final third. His creativity could also help generate more opportunities for his teammates.

For the young Gambian, a move to Anfield would represent a major opportunity, particularly if Liverpool see him as someone capable of filling the void left by Salah.

The winger is currently recovering from injury and is expected to return in the coming months. His performances after returning will be crucial, as he will need to rediscover his rhythm and confidence before potentially making another push for a move to Liverpool in January.

Could Minteh Solve Liverpool’s Right-Wing Problem?

Liverpool’s need for another right-sided attacker could make Minteh an attractive option, but convincing Brighton to sell him midway through the season may prove difficult.

Brighton are unlikely to willingly part with an important player in January, meaning Liverpool could be forced to pay a significant premium if they want to finally secure his signature.

The Reds have already seen substantial offers rejected, so negotiations between the two clubs could once again be complicated.

Nevertheless, if Liverpool decide they need more quality and depth on the right flank, Minteh could become a serious candidate.

His pace, unpredictability and attacking directness could add a new dimension to Liverpool’s forward line, while his age means he could also represent a long-term investment for the club.
