FC Barcelona are said to be lining up potential moves for five Tottenham Hotspur players should the club be relegated.

With their place in the Premier League in real danger, Tottenham Hotspur are beginning to attract serious interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Currently sitting 18th, Spurs are two points behind West Ham United with just four games left to avoid relegation. Although survival is still within reach mathematically, their situation appears increasingly unstable. Going down would be a huge surprise, especially after winning the UEFA Europa League just a year ago—potentially making them one of the strongest sides ever relegated.

With uncertainty surrounding their future, several elite European clubs are watching closely, ready to move if Spurs drop into the Championship. FC Barcelona are particularly alert, keeping a close eye on a number of players.

Reports claim Barcelona are following five Spurs players, including centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. The pair have started together in 21 league matches this season, but injuries around the New Year disrupted their momentum—something that significantly contributed to the team’s downturn.

Van de Ven is believed to be a key target for Barcelona, who admire his calmness and ability on the ball, and see him as a strong long-term partner for Pau Cubarsí.

Barcelona are also monitoring Lucas Bergvall, Pedro Porro, and former La Masia product Xavi Simons. However, Simons recently suffered an ACL injury during Spurs’ win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, which is expected to keep him out until around Christmas.

If relegation becomes a reality, Spurs could face a major squad breakup, with several key players likely to leave in what would cap a disastrous campaign.

There is still some hope, though. The club is already preparing for the 2026/27 season should they survive. Interest has reportedly been revived in Andy Robertson, who is expected to depart Liverpool FC this summer, while manager Roberto De Zerbi has identified a player from Juventus FC as a priority signing.

Injuries clearing up could also offer a timely boost, with Dejan Kulusevski making progress in his recovery and James Maddison showing positive signs of regaining fitness.

Relegation would be a massive blow—especially with clubs like Barcelona ready to swoop—but if Spurs manage to stay up, they could still be positioned for a strong comeback.
