Unai Emery reacts to Aston Villa fans’ boos following 2–1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has called for calm after supporters voiced their frustration during and after the team’s 2–1 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently fighting to avoid relegation.

Spurs seized control early, with Conor Gallagher opening the scoring before Richarlison doubled their lead in the 25th minute. Emi Buendía pulled one back deep into stoppage time, but the result marked Villa’s third consecutive loss—their worst run since November 2024.

After the game, Emery responded to the boos heard at both half-time and full-time, reminding fans of the club’s recent progress. He stressed that while performances can fluctuate, he remains confident in his methods and acknowledged that Tottenham deserved the win on the day.

He also praised Spurs for their fast start, admitting Villa struggled to recover despite an improved second-half showing. Emery noted that the team’s response after the break is something they must build on going forward.

Looking ahead, he shifted focus to Villa’s upcoming Europa League semi-final second leg, describing it as a new challenge that the team will prepare for with full commitment.
