Tottenham confirm departure of injury-plagued 24-year-old midfielder this summer following final decision

Roberto De Zerbi’s summer overhaul at Tottenham Hotspur may be claiming an early victim, with Radu Dragusin seemingly edging closer to the exit.

According to SportsBoom, Spurs are open to selling the Romanian defender at the end of the season, with the club seeking a fee in the region of €20–25 million — broadly in line with what they paid Genoa to acquire him in January 2024.

The 24-year-old is attracting attention from across Europe, with RB Leipzig appearing to lead the chase. The Bundesliga club are reportedly working hard behind the scenes to reach an agreement with the player’s representatives and are likely to submit a bid of around €20 million.

Dragusin’s future at Spurs looks uncertain

Tottenham’s rebuild under De Zerbi is expected to bring widespread changes, particularly given the club’s ongoing battle against relegation. A drop to the Championship could trigger a significant squad clear-out, though multiple departures may occur regardless of how the season ends.

Dragusin looks increasingly likely to be one of those moved on. Since joining from Genoa, he has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot, and a serious ACL injury sustained in January 2025 ruled him out for over nine months. Since his return, first-team opportunities have remained scarce, with De Zerbi preferring other defensive options ahead of him.

RB Leipzig are thought to be keen to offer Dragusin a fresh start, though they face competition. Serie A clubs AS Roma and Juventus are also keeping close tabs on his situation, with a return to Italy seen as an appealing prospect given his prior success there.

Despite being tied to Spurs until 2030, the club may ultimately be willing to accept a reasonable offer if the player pushes for the move and the squad requires reshaping.

Leipzig move gaining traction

Interestingly, Dragusin’s agent Florian Manea had previously insisted his client was committed to staying in north London. However, more recent reports suggest the player and his representatives have privately given the go-ahead to Leipzig’s approach, with the German club identifying him as a key defensive target for next season.

This points strongly to Dragusin being ready to move on in pursuit of consistent playing time and a chance to revitalise his career following a difficult period at Spurs.

From Tottenham’s standpoint, a sale could generate funds for De Zerbi to reinvest as the rebuild progresses. There is also a degree of sympathy for Dragusin among supporters — he arrived with genuine promise, showed encouraging signs, and gave everything he had, but a combination of tough competition and misfortune meant he was never able to truly make the position his own.
