Tottenham Hotspur are widely expected to part ways with two high-ranking executives when the season concludes.
The club currently find themselves 17th in the Premier League, just two points clear of the drop zone, with fixtures against Chelsea and Everton still to come. A draw against Chelsea would likely be enough to secure their survival under Roberto De Zerbi, but the season’s performance demands accountability.
While the manager could be shown the door, that would seem unduly harsh given the limited time he has had in charge. Most Spurs supporters would prefer to see Johan Lange or Vinai Venkatesham held responsible, as many hold them accountable for the poor decisions that have landed the club in their current predicament.
Journalist John Wenham told Tottenham News that he has no concrete information on the club’s plans regarding the two executives, but expects both to be dismissed. He suggested that should Spurs avoid relegation, the ownership group will move swiftly to find someone to shoulder the blame for the season’s failings. He described the pair as easy targets — the fall guys who will be pointed to as the architects of the club’s troubles, including their involvement in appointing Thomas Frank alongside the now-departed Daniel Levy. Wenham added that while it may come down to just one departure, he is confident at least one of them will be let go.
The broader feeling is that Tottenham must act decisively. Lange and Venkatesham were brought in to steer the club into a new era beyond the Levy years, but that transition has badly misfired. Their roles in the appointment of Frank and in the recruitment failures that have pushed Spurs toward a relegation that could cost the club around £245m make them obvious candidates for the axe — and a change is seen as essential to restoring faith among the fanbase.
