Tottenham are closing in on their first sale of the summer, with Argentine forward Alejo Veliz on the verge of joining Brazilian Série A side Bahia in a permanent deal, according to Alasdair Gold. The 22-year-old has already travelled to Brazil to finalise the transfer.
Veliz arrived at Spurs from Rosario Central in the summer of 2023 for around £13 million, but never managed to nail down a first-team spot. His entire Tottenham career amounted to just eight substitute appearances, with his only goal coming in a 4-2 defeat to Brighton in December 2023.
Loan spells followed at Sevilla and Espanyol in Spain, with his best form coming at the latter — four goals in 29 appearances. He then returned to Rosario Central for the 2025/26 season, chipping in with six goals in 24 matches, but it was clear he had no future under Roberto De Zerbi.
The fee is reported at £7.8 million, plus £871,000 in potential bonuses. Spurs have also secured a 20 percent sell-on clause, giving them a future financial stake in the striker’s career. Despite having three years remaining on his contract, both parties have agreed a clean break is the right outcome.
Bahia, who sit seventh in Brazil’s top flight and have been part of the City Football Group since 2023, now await the completion of formalities before officially unveiling their new signing.
For Spurs, the sale trims the wage bill, clears a squad space, and generates funds to support De Zerbi’s ongoing rebuild.
