Hands off: Liverpool issue a firm warning to Real Madrid and PSG over their ‘fantastic’ key player, making their stance unmistakably clear.

Liverpool have issued a strong “hands off” warning to Europe’s elite, making it clear they have no intention of selling Dominik Szoboszlai this summer despite growing interest from clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Hungarian midfielder has been one of Liverpool’s most consistent performers during the 2025/26 season, even filling in at right-back when needed. His impressive displays have earned praise, with Jamie Carragher recently describing him as “fantastic”.

Reports suggest several top European sides, including Real Madrid, PSG, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, are monitoring his situation as he enters the final two years of his contract. However, Liverpool remain firm in their stance and consider him a key part of their future plans.

The club reportedly view Szoboszlai as a “cornerstone” of Andoni Iraola’s squad and are confident of reaching an agreement on a new long-term contract, potentially before the 2026/27 season begins.

Although an earlier understanding over a contract extension was said to exist, no deal has been finalised yet. His current £120,000-a-week deal still runs for two more years, meaning there is no immediate urgency—but Liverpool are keen to avoid a prolonged saga.

With high earners like Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konaté potentially freeing up wages, the club could be preparing space for a significant pay rise for Szoboszlai in the future.

For now, Liverpool’s message is clear: he is not for sale, and they are determined to keep hold of one of their most valuable assets despite persistent interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.
