Even though Tottenham have been linked with a string of other forwards lately, Fabrizio Romano says the club’s interest in Savinho hasn’t gone away.
After a busy summer that’s already brought in reinforcements in midfield and defence, Spurs are still looking to bolster Roberto De Zerbi’s attacking options before the window shuts. Names like Rafael Leão and Eli Junior Kroupi have entered the conversation recently, but Savinho remains firmly part of the club’s thinking.
Deal Talk Cooled, But Not Dead
A month ago, well-placed reports had Spurs confident of agreeing a deal worth roughly £60 million with Manchester City for the Brazilian winger. Since then, things have gone quiet, prompting some fans to assume the club had turned their focus elsewhere.
Romano, however, says that’s not the case. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he explained that Tottenham’s pursuit of Savinho hasn’t been dropped — the timeline just hinges on factors like City’s own transfer business and how the fee negotiations play out.
Talks Ongoing Behind the Scenes
Romano indicated that conversations are still happening, even if things haven’t progressed to an advanced stage yet. He was clear that Savinho remains a priority target for Spurs, who haven’t shelved the move.
He also noted just how active Tottenham’s recruitment team has been this window, having already wrapped up signings of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, and Martin Dubravka — yet the club is still pushing to add more attacking quality to De Zerbi’s side.
Social Media Fuels Fan Speculation
Savinho himself has added to the buzz through his online activity. Earlier in the summer, a photo posted by Xavi Simons showing the pair together got fans talking, with many reading it as a hint about the winger’s next move.
More recently, Savinho liked a post from new Spurs signing Mateus Fernandes celebrating his switch to the club — another small moment that got supporters speculating, even if it’s far from proof of anything concrete.
With Tottenham still hunting for another top-level winger before deadline day, Savinho stays high on their list. There’s still work to do before any deal comes together, but Romano’s update suggests Spurs haven’t given up on landing him this summer.
