Tottenham Hotspur look poised to complete another notable piece of transfer business, with Croatian defender Luka Vuskovic expected to seal a move to Brighton & Hove Albion within hours. The deal is the latest chapter in a busy summer for Spurs as Roberto De Zerbi continues remoulding his squad ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Having already brought in six new faces, Tottenham show no sign of easing off after one of the Premier League’s most active windows. De Zerbi is working to lift the club back up the table following back-to-back 17th-place finishes, with Champions League qualification a clear priority now that Spurs are free of European commitments this term. The club hopes the lack of continental football will allow them to focus purely on domestic form, much as Manchester United did last season.
Vuskovic’s exit is now closing in, with the teenager reportedly set to undergo a medical before putting pen to paper at Brighton. Despite being viewed as one of the continent’s top young defensive talents, his route to regular minutes at Tottenham had narrowed considerably following the arrivals of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, who join Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in an increasingly crowded centre-back pool. Rather than risk stalling his progress, the club has sanctioned a switch that suits both sides.
The fee is expected to land just under £50 million, a strong return for a player Spurs signed relatively recently, with a 20 percent sell-on clause also included to protect any future profit. Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler is said to have played a key role in persuading Vuskovic that the Amex offers a clearer path to first-team opportunities and long-term growth.
With the backline overhaul largely wrapped up, Tottenham’s focus is expected to swing toward the final third. Manchester City winger Savinho remains high on the club’s wish list, alongside Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi, as De Zerbi looks to add more attacking punch before the window shuts.
Elsewhere, talk of a possible Harry Kane return continues to simmer. Spurs are said to be keeping tabs on his contract situation at Bayern Munich, with a move potentially back on the table next summer depending on how things unfold. Kane has just a year left on his current terms, though Bayern remain confident of tying him down long-term.
Since his 2023 departure from north London, Kane has been prolific in Germany, netting 146 times in 147 outings and cementing his status as one of the game’s most lethal forwards. That form has kept clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid watching closely, even with Bayern’s optimism over a new deal.
For now, though, Tottenham’s focus stays on the here and now, with Vuskovic’s move to Brighton set to be confirmed in the coming hours.
