He connected this directly to De Zerbi’s recent public comments about wanting to bring in “important players” rather than just padding out the squad numbers — suggesting the manager had Savinho specifically in mind. Per Romano, Spurs haven’t wavered in their admiration for the winger and are quietly pushing to get the deal over the line, with more attacking additions still expected on top of this pursuit.
The real sticking point, according to the journalist, isn’t Tottenham’s interest — it’s City’s reluctance to sanction an exit until they’ve sorted their own attacking replacements. That’s left Savinho in limbo, with Romano suggesting the player himself is ready to make the move and is just waiting on City to give their blessing.
