Liverpool Transfer News: £70m Gakpo Deal Still Alive as Jones Exit Agreement Is Reached
Liverpool could be set for plenty of transfer activity with less than two weeks remaining before the summer window closes.
The Reds begin their 2026/27 Premier League campaign against Newcastle United on Sunday, with new boss Andoni Iraola expected to rely heavily on the squad inherited from Arne Slot.
Iraola has so far added Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo, but further arrivals and departures could still take place before deadline day.
A potential £70million deal involving Cody Gakpo remains active, while Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement over the sale of Curtis Jones.
Gakpo to Tottenham still possible
Cody Gakpo has been linked with Tottenham for much of the summer, although Liverpool are reportedly reluctant to sanction his departure unless they can sign two attacking replacements.
Gakpo is believed to be valued at around £70million, with Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi keen to strengthen his options on the left wing.
Despite recent doubts over whether Spurs could complete the deal so late in the window, Fabrizio Romano insists the transfer remains a realistic possibility.
Romano has revealed that Tottenham are still in talks for the winger, while personal terms are not expected to be a problem because Gakpo is reportedly open to the move.
Jones agreement reached
Curtis Jones could also be on his way out of Anfield after Romano reported that Liverpool have agreed a £30million (€35m) fee with Inter Milan.
The midfielder has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Italian champions, with a medical now expected to be arranged.
Inter renewed their interest in the 25-year-old this summer after previously having two bids rejected by Liverpool, including a £21.7million offer in June.
If Jones completes the move, he will leave Liverpool after making 228 appearances, scoring 22 goals and providing 25 assists.
