Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on Liverpool’s pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, insisting that the transfer remains very much alive as the Reds continue discussions with the French champions.
Liverpool are eager to add more attacking options before the transfer window closes, following Mohamed Salah’s departure to Trabzonspor at the end of last season.
The Reds have already brought in Victor Munoz from Osasuna but walked away from a deal for Yan Diomande after the player indicated that he wanted to pursue another destination.
Barcola has now emerged as Liverpool’s leading target for the left wing, while the club has also submitted two offers for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh as they search for a right-sided attacker.
Romano has stressed that reports of a potential €170 million price tag for Barcola are far from accurate, although he expects any eventual deal to involve a significant fee.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained that Liverpool and PSG are maintaining direct discussions behind the scenes, with negotiations taking place between senior figures at both clubs rather than through a straightforward bid-and-rejection process.
According to Romano, the deal is “alive” and Barcola remains a major priority for Liverpool, with the Premier League champions expected to push hard to get an agreement over the line in the coming days.
However, an agreement with PSG still needs to be reached before the transfer can receive Romano’s famous “Here We Go” confirmation.
Romano also added that Liverpool could look to sign another winger if Cody Gakpo leaves for either Tottenham or Manchester City.
PSG insiders expect Barcola transfer to happen
While no agreement has been reached yet, journalist Ben Jacobs has also provided encouraging news for Liverpool supporters.
Jacobs claims that sources within PSG expect Barcola to leave the club before the transfer window closes, with Liverpool continuing negotiations.
He also revealed that Tottenham remain interested in Cody Gakpo, while Manchester City are monitoring the Liverpool forward but had not made direct contact with the Reds as of Monday night.
