Spurs ‘Reach Verdict’ on Next Manager Following Thomas Frank’s Dismissal

Tottenham have reportedly settled on their next course of action following the dismissal of Thomas Frank on Wednesday morning.

The north London side relieved Frank of his duties after Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to Newcastle, a result that left them languishing in 16th place in the Premier League standings.

Spurs have managed just two wins in their last 17 outings and are hovering only five points above the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining.

As reigning Europa League champions, the club now face a crucial decision regarding their next managerial appointment, especially with only three months left in the season and a limited pool of elite candidates available. According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, Tottenham are most likely to appoint an interim manager until the end of the campaign before reassessing their options in the summer.

Mauricio Pochettino has emerged as the bookmakers’ second favourite to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, though he is currently focused on leading co-hosts the United States at the 2026 World Cup. Other potential long-term candidates include Roberto De Zerbi, who is the frontrunner after departing Marseille on Wednesday, and Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola.

If Spurs opt for a temporary solution, they could follow Manchester United’s example by placing a former player or coach in caretaker charge. Ryan Mason, who previously worked under Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou, is currently without a club after leaving West Brom.

Robbie Keane, now managing Hungarian side Ferencvaros, has also been mentioned, while 78-year-old Harry Redknapp represents a more unexpected option.

Last month, Tottenham brought in former Liverpool coach Johnny Heitinga as Frank’s assistant. Heitinga had begun the season in charge of Ajax but was dismissed in November after securing just five wins from 15 games.

Speaking at the time of Heitinga’s appointment, Frank told the club’s official website that he believed the Dutchman would bring significant value both on and off the pitch, highlighting his extensive playing experience across Europe and with the Netherlands national team, as well as his defensive expertise and broad coaching background.
