Tottenham and Lucas Bergvall dragged into blockbuster transfer as club-record deal is agreed

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of keeping Lucas Bergvall beyond this summer have suffered a fresh setback, with growing interest in the Swedish midfielder.

Spurs have already strengthened their squad by signing Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke and goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, but uncertainty remains over Bergvall’s future.

According to reports from The Athletic, Nottingham Forest are considering a move for the 20-year-old once they complete Elliot Anderson’s record-breaking £116 million transfer to Manchester City. Forest are said to view Bergvall as the ideal replacement for Anderson, although no transfer fee has yet been revealed.

Bergvall is currently representing Sweden at the World Cup and came off the bench in Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Japan.

The latest development comes after recent claims that the midfielder is open to leaving Tottenham this summer following limited playing time last season. With Roberto De Zerbi now in charge, Bergvall’s role for the upcoming campaign remains uncertain.

Spurs are also pushing to strengthen their midfield, with Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes both linked with moves to north London. Should either player arrive, Bergvall’s chances of regular football could become even slimmer, potentially increasing the likelihood of a summer exit.
