Bradley Barcola is reportedly on the verge of completing his Liverpool move, with the France international expected to undergo a medical after Paris Saint-Germain agreed to a fee in excess of £110 million.
Reports on Thursday suggested that the two clubs had reached a verbal agreement following several weeks of negotiations. French journalist François Plateau claims Barcola has been keen on the transfer for some time, with personal terms already settled.
The 23-year-old is now expected to make his way to Merseyside for his medical once PSG give him permission to travel, which could happen as early as Friday.
With only minor details remaining, Liverpool are closing in on what would be their third signing worth more than £100m in just over a year.
However, Barcola will not be able to feature against Nottingham Forest due to registration rules. To be eligible for the fixture, he would have needed to be registered by 12pm on Friday, August 28.
Instead, Liverpool have reportedly identified their away clash with Ipswich on Friday, September 4, as a possible debut date for their new winger. By then, the transfer window will have closed and Barcola should have had an opportunity to train alongside his new teammates.
His first appearance at Anfield could then come shortly afterwards, with Liverpool scheduled to meet Tottenham in the third round of the Carabao Cup the following week.
Barcola would become Liverpool’s fourth summer arrival, joining Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo. The trio all made their Liverpool debuts during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle United.
Liverpool could still have more work to do in attack before the transfer deadline. The Reds have recently had bids for Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr turned down as they continue searching for additional attacking reinforcements.
PSG forward Ibrahim Mbaye is another player reportedly being monitored by Liverpool, although it remains unclear whether the club will make a formal move for him.
Meanwhile, the arrival of another winger could potentially open the door for Cody Gakpo to leave Anfield, with Tottenham reportedly prepared to spend around £75m to bring the Dutch forward to north London.
