LIVERPOOL STEP UP INTEREST IN ISMAILA SARR AS CODY GAKPO EXIT RUMOURS GROW
Liverpool are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr as uncertainty continues to surround the future of Cody Gakpo.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are in direct contact with the representatives of the 28-year-old attacker as they explore the possibility of bringing him to Anfield. Discussions are ongoing, although it remains unclear whether Liverpool will be able to reach an agreement with Crystal Palace.
Sarr has established himself as a proven Premier League performer and could provide Liverpool with another dangerous option in attack. The Senegal international was also an important figure for Crystal Palace during their successful UEFA Europa Conference League campaign last season.
A move to Liverpool could offer Sarr the opportunity to compete regularly in the Champions League and challenge for major trophies. Having previously caused Liverpool problems with his performances against them, he could now potentially find himself playing for the Reds instead.
However, Crystal Palace are unlikely to allow one of their key players to leave without a fight. Liverpool may have to submit a significant offer if they want to convince the London club to sell.
The Reds are already said to be closing in on a deal for Bradley Barcola and have also added Victor Munoz to their squad this summer. Despite that, Liverpool could still look to strengthen their attacking options further.
Sarr’s potential arrival could become even more significant if Cody Gakpo leaves the club. The Dutch international has been linked with a move away from Anfield, with Manchester City reportedly interested in securing his signature.
Should Gakpo decide to move on, Liverpool would need a suitable replacement, and Sarr could emerge as a strong candidate. With his experience in English football and ability to make an immediate impact, the Crystal Palace star could be viewed as an ideal option to strengthen Liverpool’s attack.
