Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a much-needed lift in their fight to avoid relegation, as injured pair Mohammed Kudus and Destiny Udogie are both closing in on a return to the pitch.
The North London side have struggled badly in the Premier League in recent weeks and now sit uncomfortably close to the relegation zone following a damaging 3–1 loss to Crystal Palace. That defeat left Spurs just a point above the bottom three and still searching for their first league win of 2026, heightening concerns about a potential relegation battle.
Despite the grim run of results, there is increasing belief within the club that key players currently sidelined could return sooner than initially expected.
Ghana international Kudus has been out since January after suffering a thigh injury during a league clash with Sunderland. The attacking midfielder, who joined Tottenham in a £55 million move in 2025, had quickly become one of the team’s most important attacking threats before the injury and is now approaching the final stages of his recovery.
At the same time, left-back Udogie is also making solid progress after sustaining a hamstring injury earlier in February. The Italian defender had originally been expected to miss several weeks, but recent reports indicate he could make his comeback earlier than planned, potentially strengthening Tottenham’s fragile defence.
Spurs’ difficult season has been worsened by a lengthy injury list, and former striker Jermain Defoe recently suggested the club’s survival could hinge on getting several key players back before the campaign concludes.
With only a limited number of games remaining, the possible returns of Kudus and Udogie may be vital for interim manager Igor Tudor as Tottenham attempt to move clear of the relegation zone and maintain their long-standing place in the top flight.
Should both players return in time, Spurs could gain the attacking spark and defensive solidity needed to stop their downward spiral and restore belief among supporters. ⚽
