Tottenham Hotspur have moved quickly to strengthen their defence after Kevin Danso completed his move to Sunderland.
According to David Ornstein, Spurs have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo on a permanent transfer. The 6ft 5in defender has already agreed personal terms and has been given permission to undergo his medical ahead of completing the move.
The deal is reportedly worth an initial £7m, with additional payments included through add-ons, making it a relatively inexpensive solution for Roberto De Zerbi.
The move comes after Danso informed De Zerbi that he wanted to leave Tottenham. The Austrian defender has since joined Sunderland on loan with an obligation to buy, leaving Spurs needing another centre-back as they attempt to recover from a difficult opening to the season.
Adarabioyo joined Chelsea from Fulham on a free transfer in 2024 and has made 70 appearances for the club across all competitions. However, he has not featured in Xabi Alonso’s squad this season, paving the way for his departure.
If the transfer is completed, Adarabioyo would provide Tottenham with another experienced option alongside Micky van de Ven, Jan-Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi.
The transfer would also mark the first direct senior-team move between Tottenham and Chelsea in 17 years, since Carlo Cudicini left Stamford Bridge for Spurs in January 2009.
