Former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has officially retired from professional football, drawing the curtain on a remarkable 20-year career that saw him rise from academy prospect to a winner of both the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League.
The 36-year-old shared the news on Instagram, expressing deep gratitude and pride as he stepped away from the game. Lallana made 178 appearances for Liverpool after his 2014 move from Southampton FC, scoring 22 goals and providing 21 assists across all competitions. During his time at Anfield, he won four major trophies, including the 2019 Champions League and the 2019/20 Premier League title, before later spells with Brighton & Hove Albion and a return to Southampton, where his journey fittingly began and ended.
Reflecting on his career, Lallana described Southampton as the club he owes everything to, while highlighting Liverpool as the place where he reached his peak, representing one of the world’s biggest clubs and competing for top honours. He also spoke warmly of his time at Brighton, calling it one of the happiest periods of his career and praising the club’s strong community connection.
