Dele Alli is still searching for a new club, and he’s now been offered the chance to train with League Two side Barnet.
The Bees are based in north London, where Alli first made his name at Tottenham Hotspur. They’re unbeaten after their opening seven league games and sit top of the table as they chase promotion to League One. Manager Dean Brennan says he’d happily have Alli join the squad’s sessions, as the player is already using the club’s facilities.
Brennan told talkSPORT he’d take him “all day long” and that you’d be mad not to. He called Alli a serious footballer going through a really tough time, and said there must be some reason other clubs haven’t taken him on. If he ended up pulling him back in like Harry Redknapp did with Paolo Di Canio, Brennan said he’d have no issue, because everyone deserves a second chance. He added that plenty of out-of-contract players train with the club, so if Alli wants to come and get fit with the group, the door is open.
Alli’s last professional appearance was in March 2025, when he was sent off nine minutes into his Como debut after accidentally stepping on Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s calf. Former Spurs team-mate Kyle Walker even pleaded with the referee not to send him off, but the official felt he had no choice. Since then, Alli has kept posting clips of his training on social media while looking for a club.
He’s understood to have rented Barnet’s facilities, which Brennan confirmed, explaining that the club’s facilities are available for hire. He noted that at their level, players have bills and mortgages to pay, and the club only draws a couple of thousand fans a game rather than 10,000 or 20,000.
Alli is now 30 and left Everton, his last English club, in 2024 without making an appearance that season. His last competitive goal came in January 2023 for Besiktas against Alanyaspor, but there’s still hope he can revive his career. It’s unclear whether he’s received or turned down any offers since leaving Como.
