Tottenham are back in the market this summer after finishing 17th in the Premier League for a second straight year, with Roberto De Zerbi pushing hard to rebuild and reverse the club’s slide.
The club focused most of their recruitment on midfield and defence, while also adding Martin Dubravka as backup for Antonin Kinsky following Guglielmo Vicario’s exit to Juventus.
Up front, Spurs brought in Omar Marmoush and Savio from Manchester City to add firepower and right-wing quality. But with Dejan Kulusevski out for over a year and Wilson Odobert nursing a serious knee problem, the club still needed another option on the left before the window shut.
Iliman Ndiaye and Cody Gakpo were both on Tottenham’s shortlist, but neither move materialised — Gakpo stayed at Liverpool and Ndiaye joined City instead. Unable to land either, Spurs pivoted to Mykhailo Mudryk, landing the Chelsea forward on loan on deadline day. The Ukrainian had only recently returned from a near two-year doping ban.
Now, though, Mudryk faces a fresh setback. Football London reports he picked up an injury in training and will be out for several weeks, likely missing the games against Everton, Liverpool and Aston Villa around the international break.
That leaves Mathys Tel as the likely left-sided cover. The 21-year-old impressed in pre-season but hasn’t yet found that same form in competitive matches — though there’s still plenty of time for him to grow into the role.
De Zerbi also has the option of shifting Savio over to the left, which would free up Mohammed Kudus to keep his place on the right. Kudus is now fully fit again after a second half of last season hampered by injury, and will be looking to pick up where he left off following his switch from West Ham.
