Bayern Munich are reportedly pushing to sign Liverpool wonderkid Rio Ngumoha this summer, but the Reds have made their stance clear. đź”´
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern have been in talks with the 17-year-old and his representatives for several weeks, even reaching a verbal agreement towards the end of last month.
However, the proposed move has since broken down, with Bayern now facing an uphill battle to revive the deal. Liverpool have no plans to sell Ngumoha, who is regarded as a major part of the club’s long-term plans.
The youngster made a strong impression with the first team last season, featuring for just over 1,000 minutes and scoring three goals. His performances have underlined why some of Europe’s biggest clubs are keeping a close eye on him.
Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is also believed to have been involved in the personal talks and gave his approval for the move.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has reiterated that Liverpool are not looking to part ways with Ngumoha. Instead, the Reds want to strengthen their attacking options this summer while keeping their most important young talents.
There is little doubt that Ngumoha has enormous potential. His Premier League cameos last season showcased his ability, and Liverpool will be determined to ensure he continues his development at Anfield.
The big question now is whether Andoni Iraola will hand the teenager a bigger role in the upcoming campaign.
