Tottenham Hotspur are ramping up their summer transfer activity, with reports linking them to Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo as the club looks to overhaul their squad ahead of the new season.
Spurs have already made early strides in the market, focusing initially on defensive signings. Andy Robertson has joined on a free transfer, and former Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi is set to follow under similar terms. The club are also closing in on Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke, with the Dutch defender said to have agreed personal terms despite two bids having been rejected. Tottenham remain confident a revised offer will get a deal over the line.
With defensive additions nearly wrapped up, attention is now shifting towards the attack. The return of Randal Kolo Muani to Paris Saint-Germain following his loan spell, combined with injury worries among their forward line, has left Spurs light in attack and eager to add quality.
Cody Gakpo has emerged as one option they are tracking. The Dutch international’s situation at Anfield has attracted attention following a difficult campaign and the departure of manager Arne Slot. While Liverpool are not actively looking to cash in, Gakpo is no longer viewed as untouchable, and a substantial bid could prompt a rethink. The £250,000-per-week forward has also drawn interest from Aston Villa, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, Besiktas, and Fenerbahce.
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho is gaining momentum. The club previously explored a move for the Brazilian last summer, and talks are said to have picked up again with Savinho reportedly having already agreed personal terms on a long-term deal. A transfer fee with City remains the outstanding hurdle.
Further attacking business may hinge on outgoings, with the futures of Richarlison and Dominic Solanke both under scrutiny. Should either depart, Spurs could return to the market for a striker to give Roberto De Zerbi the squad depth he needs heading into what promises to be a demanding campaign.
