Rumours continue to circulate about Guglielmo Vicario’s long-term future, though several sources maintain that Tottenham are not actively looking to replace him at this stage. Dean Jones has indicated that Spurs’ priority is instead to recruit a new goalkeeper to serve as Vicario’s understudy, a move that would effectively see Antonin Kinsky moved on.
Manchester City unwilling to part with James Trafford
James Trafford has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham, especially after finding his pathway limited at Manchester City following Gianluigi Donnarumma’s arrival. However, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, City are not prepared to let the England international leave despite his dissatisfaction.
Speaking to Football Insider, O’Rourke explained that Trafford is frustrated by his lack of minutes behind Donnarumma and is keen to boost his chances of making England’s World Cup squad. This has led to increasing speculation about his future, with Newcastle long-term admirers, Aston Villa monitoring the situation amid uncertainty over Emiliano Martinez, and Spurs also showing interest. Even so, O’Rourke believes City will not agree to a January sale, as they are reluctant to weaken their goalkeeping options midway through the campaign.
Spurs may consider a new first-choice goalkeeper
Tottenham could yet be drawn into the market for a new number one in the summer if reports from Italy prove accurate. It has been claimed that Vicario’s agents have held talks with Inter Milan regarding a potential move, with the 29-year-old reportedly open to a return to Serie A at the end of the season.
Emiliano Martinez has been mentioned as a possible replacement should Vicario depart, while several reports suggest Spurs are already evaluating goalkeeping targets ahead of the January transfer window.
