Tottenham have reportedly submitted an £85m (€98m) offer for Manchester City winger Savinho, matching the valuation City initially demanded. However, the bid has still not been accepted.
According to Globo Esporte, Spurs have formally made the proposal as they intensify their pursuit of the 22-year-old Brazilian. Despite receiving the figure they wanted, City are continuing to resist the transfer.
Savinho’s absence from training on Thursday has added further intrigue. While British reports confirmed he did not train, Globo Esporte has linked his absence to his determination to move to Tottenham.
The winger reportedly believes he would have a more prominent role and receive more regular Premier League minutes at Spurs. Only 14 of his 36 appearances over the past year were starts, and consistent playing time is also seen as important for his hopes of returning to Brazil’s plans.
Tottenham have now done their part financially and are waiting for Manchester City to approve the deal. For the moment, however, the transfer remains at a standstill, with hopes that an agreement can still be reached before the September 1 deadline.
