Liverpool have been handed a significant boost over Alexis Mac Allister’s future after his father, Carlos Mac Allister, strongly rejected claims that the midfielder could leave Anfield this summer.
Despite speculation linking the Argentina international with several top European clubs, Mac Allister’s camp has made it clear that there are currently no plans for the 27-year-old to depart Liverpool.
Carlos Mac Allister addresses Alexis’ future
Speaking about the transfer rumours, Carlos Mac Allister confirmed that his son remains committed to the Reds and has not considered leaving during the current transfer window.
He told WinWinAllSports, as reported by Fabrizio Romano:
“Alexis will stay at Liverpool, and we have not discussed any possibility of him leaving the club this summer.”
The statement will come as welcome news to Liverpool, who see Mac Allister as an important part of their midfield plans.
The World Cup winner has already returned to pre-season training at the AXA Training Centre after his extended summer break, with his focus now firmly on preparing for the new campaign.
Mac Allister attracted interest from Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid
Mac Allister’s future had become a topic of increasing speculation in recent weeks, with several major clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
Manchester City were the latest Premier League side linked with the Argentine, with reports claiming Pep Guardiola’s side viewed him as a potential option to succeed Rodri in midfield.
Chelsea have also reportedly been keeping an eye on the situation, while Real Madrid’s long-standing interest in Mac Allister dates back to last summer.
However, with Carlos Mac Allister now firmly dismissing the possibility of a summer departure, Liverpool can look forward to the new season with one of their key midfielders seemingly set to remain at Anfield.
