Tottenham are turning their attention to attacking reinforcements this summer after making significant progress on defensive and midfield targets, with Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo emerging as a priority — but Spurs have a backup option ready if that deal falls through.
Defensive Business Done
Spurs have moved quickly to fix their backline, bringing in Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan-Paul Van Hecke to shore up the defence. Midfield has also been a major focus, with Tottenham reportedly tabling a massive £100 million offer for Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali. They are also pushing for West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes, though Manchester United are battling them for that signature.
Gakpo The Primary Target
With the defensive and midfield rebuild well underway, Tottenham have now set their sights on attacking quality. Gakpo is believed to be the first-choice option, with Spurs keen to prise the Dutch forward away from Liverpool this summer.
Marmoush The Backup Plan
Should the Gakpo pursuit hit a wall, Tottenham have identified Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush as their alternative. The Egyptian international has been labelled “world-class” but comes with a hefty price tag and wages of around £280,000 per week according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg.
Marmoush managed only eight Premier League starts for City last season despite his quality, making him a potentially shrewd pickup for the right club.
Perfect Fit For De Zerbi
Both Gakpo and Marmoush are versatile attackers capable of playing across the front line — exactly the profile Roberto De Zerbi is targeting. Marmoush can operate as a centre-forward, a number ten or out wide, giving Spurs tremendous flexibility in attack.
Tottenham’s summer is heating up rapidly. 🔥
