It’s official: Major domino falls as Liverpool get boost in Bradley Barcola pursuit

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola may have received a timely lift following news out of France on Saturday morning.

As Fabrizio Romano reiterated on Friday, Liverpool remain locked in daily talks with PSG over a possible move for the 23-year-old, who’s already believed to have agreed personal terms with the club. The sticking point remains the fee — Liverpool are reportedly willing to go up to £120m, while PSG want as much as £145m, according to TEAMtalk.

PSG’s Torres Signing Could Work In Liverpool’s Favor

On Saturday morning, the reigning Champions League winners confirmed via their official website that they’ve signed Ferran Torres from Barcelona on a five-year contract.

Torres — who scored Spain’s winning goal in last month’s World Cup final — has joined for a reported £42.7m fee according to The Athletic, marking PSG’s second big attacking addition of the summer following Maghnes Akliouche’s arrival from Monaco.

Does This Make PSG More Willing To Sell Barcola?

There’s no direct link between Torres’ signing and any potential Barcola departure, but it still feels like a significant piece may have just fallen into place for Liverpool’s chase.

Torres’ arrival at the Parc des Princes leaves Luis Enrique with an even deeper pool of attacking talent — seven senior forwards now competing for just three starting spots. That raises an obvious question: how does the PSG boss keep everyone happy without letting a couple of them leave? And the incoming business might not stop there either, with reports suggesting PSG have already struck a verbal agreement to sign Mika Godts from Ajax.

Barcola featured in most of his club’s Champions League matches last season, but cracking the starting XI could prove far tougher in 2026/27 given how stacked Enrique’s attacking options now are.

Liverpool still need to put forward a bid PSG are willing to accept, but Torres’ arrival clearly increases the likelihood that the Ligue 1 champions could be open to letting one of their attackers go — with the 23-year-old Frenchman looking like the most obvious candidate.
