Liverpool reach personal agreement with Yankuba Minteh

Liverpool have reportedly agreed personal terms with Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh as they continue their search for attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Minteh has already given the green light to Liverpool’s project. The 22-year-old Gambian winger reportedly dreams of playing for the Reds, influenced by African stars such as Mohamed Salah and his idol, Sadio Mané.

However, the transfer is not yet completed. Liverpool have already made two bids for Minteh, with the latest worth around £60 million, but Brighton rejected both offers. Brighton are understood to value the winger closer to £70 million.

Liverpool are looking for additional options on the wings following Salah’s departure, with Bradley Barcola still their priority target. Romano says Minteh is not necessarily an alternative to Barcola; Liverpool could potentially pursue both players.

One major concern is Minteh’s current injury. He suffered a leg injury during Brighton’s pre-season and is expected to be unavailable until around October. Despite that, Liverpool have continued to pursue him.

Minteh joined Brighton from Newcastle in 2024 and has recorded nine Premier League goals in 66 appearances. His pace, direct running and unpredictability have made him an attractive option for Liverpool’s new manager, Andoni Iraola.

So Liverpool fans shouldn’t consider the Minteh deal done yet—the biggest hurdle is still reaching an agreement with Brighton.
