Tottenham Hotspur have turned down Galatasaray’s opening €18 million offer for Pape Matar Sarr, with Spurs reportedly demanding at least €25 million to consider selling the midfielder.
According to transfer reporter Sacha Tavolieri, Galatasaray made the bid as they look to strengthen their midfield before the transfer window closes. Tottenham believe the proposal falls below their valuation and have rejected it.
However, talks remain ongoing, with Galatasaray considering an improved offer. Personal terms are reportedly progressing well, with Sarr’s representatives said to be in advanced discussions with the Turkish champions. The Senegal international is also reportedly open to making the move.
Why Sarr could leave Tottenham
Sarr’s future has become uncertain following Tottenham’s busy summer recruitment under Roberto De Zerbi. With several new midfield options arriving, the 23-year-old is concerned about his chances of getting regular first-team football and is now open to leaving.
Galatasaray are not the only club interested, with Saudi side Al Ahli also linked with the midfielder, although a move to the Saudi Pro League currently appears less likely.
Tottenham are reportedly willing to sanction Sarr’s departure if their €25 million valuation is met. Meanwhile, Spurs continue to work on other transfer business, including their reported pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho.
Galatasaray must now decide whether to increase their offer as negotiations with Tottenham continue.
