Liverpool Agree Personal Terms With Ibrahim Mbaye as PSG Double Raid Takes Shape
Liverpool have reportedly taken a major step towards signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye after reaching an agreement with the highly rated teenager over personal terms.
The 18-year-old Senegal international is said to have agreed financial terms on a five-year contract with Liverpool, with reports indicating that he has chosen the Reds ahead of interest from Bayer Leverkusen.
Mbaye, who can operate primarily on the right wing, has emerged as an exciting prospect at PSG. Liverpool have been monitoring the youngster as they look to strengthen their attacking options following the departure of Mohamed Salah.
However, the reported agreement is not yet the completion of the transfer. Liverpool still need to reach an agreement with PSG over the transfer fee before Mbaye can officially become a Reds player. The Athletic has also cast doubt on claims that everything regarding his personal terms is already fully settled, highlighting the conflicting reports surrounding the deal.
Liverpool want Mbaye AND Barcola
Liverpool’s interest in PSG does not appear to end with Mbaye.
The Reds are also pushing hard to sign Bradley Barcola, with Liverpool continuing negotiations over a deal for the 23-year-old France international. Both Barcola and Mbaye were recently left out of PSG’s squad amid uncertainty over their futures.
Barcola remains the bigger priority for Liverpool, but PSG’s high valuation has made negotiations complicated. Reports suggest Liverpool are preparing another offer as they attempt to find a breakthrough.
A double swoop for Mbaye and Barcola would therefore represent a huge statement from Liverpool. Barcola would provide immediate quality, while Mbaye would offer long-term potential, giving the Reds two very different attacking options.
For now, Mbaye appears to be getting closer to Anfield, but the final agreement with PSG remains the key hurdle.
