Liverpool have reportedly been handed a blow in their search for a new winger after one of their potential alternatives suffered a serious injury.

The Reds had been monitoring Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, who was reportedly valued at around £70 million. However, the Gambian has picked up a leg injury that could keep him sidelined for two to three months.

Minteh sustained the injury during Brighton’s victory over Roma after a challenge involving Bryan Cristante. It is still unclear whether the 21-year-old will require surgery.

The setback is also a major concern for Brighton, who are already dealing with an injury to another key winger, Kaoru Mitoma.
For Liverpool, the injury is likely to end any possibility of signing Minteh before the transfer window closes. The club are therefore expected to continue focusing on their other attacking targets, particularly PSG wingers Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.
Liverpool could potentially revisit their interest in Minteh in the future once he has fully recovered, but for now, his injury appears to have taken him out of consideration for a summer move.
