Fabrizio Romano reveals Man City’s next move after Cody Gakpo contact
Manchester City are stepping up their interest in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Premier League champions are preparing to make a formal offer before the transfer window closes.
City have reportedly opened the door to a potential move for Fernández, but Chelsea are believed to want around £120 million for the Argentine midfielder.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have also made contact with Cody Gakpo’s representatives, with talks now underway. Tottenham are still involved in the race and already have personal terms in place with the Liverpool forward.
However, Liverpool’s stance remains firm. The Reds are unlikely to consider selling Gakpo unless they bring in at least two attacking reinforcements, including Bradley Barcola and another winger.
Liverpool are also yet to begin direct club-to-club negotiations over Gakpo, according to reports.
With City potentially spending heavily on Fernández and other targets, questions remain over whether they are prepared to meet Liverpool’s valuation for Gakpo. The Reds could reportedly demand a fee of around £85 million or more, particularly after Savinho’s move to Tottenham.
For now, Enzo Fernández appears to be Manchester City’s priority, while the future of Cody Gakpo remains uncertain with the transfer deadline approaching.
