Bradley Barcola’s Liverpool transfer reaches ‘final stages’ as Fabrizio Romano provides major Thursday update

Liverpool appear to be closing in on a deal for Bradley Barcola, with Fabrizio Romano providing a major update on Thursday morning.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward has been Liverpool’s main attacking target throughout the summer and has reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Reds.

Momentum behind the transfer has increased significantly in recent days. David Ornstein previously suggested there was an 85–90% chance of the deal going through, while Ben Jacobs indicated that an agreement could be reached before the weekend.

Romano has now revealed that negotiations have entered their final stages, with senior officials from both Liverpool and PSG directly involved. A breakthrough is reportedly expected soon.

The latest development comes after The Times’ Paul Joyce reported that PSG have reduced their asking price to around £115 million, down considerably from the initial £145.7m valuation previously reported.

Barcola’s desire to move to Anfield has reportedly played a major role, while PSG leaving him out of their first three matches of the season has further fuelled speculation that his departure is imminent.

If completed, the 23-year-old would become Liverpool’s second-most expensive signing ever, behind Alexander Isak. Despite the huge fee, the current transfer market means a deal worth more than £100m was always likely for a player of Barcola’s profile.

Naturally, his arrival could raise questions about Cody Gakpo’s future, given that Barcola primarily operates on the left wing. However, his versatility could also allow Liverpool to deploy him on the right as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.

With several reliable journalists now suggesting the transfer is a matter of when, not if, Liverpool fans could be just days away from seeing Barcola officially unveiled as a Reds player.
